A LONG LUNCH WITH KELLY SLATER AND DAVE WOOD
Sunday 8 March, 11am-3pm, Ocean Restaurant, Te Arai Links
Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime fundraising experience hosted by the Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service. Guests will enjoy an intimate long lunch with surfing legend Kelly Slater and human performance expert Dave Wood, as they share insights on resilience, performance, and purpose. All proceeds support the ongoing restoration of the Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Club, which suffered nearly $3 million in damage after a major slip in March 2023 following Cyclone Gabrielle.
This event directly contributes to ensuring safe beaches for generations to come. Set at the stunning Ocean Restaurant, Te Arai Links, the afternoon includes a guided lunch with open conversation. Kelly Slater, 11-time World Surfing Champion and global ambassador for health, wellbeing, and sustainability, brings both elite insight and a meaningful connection to local surf communities.
Joining him is Dave Wood, a Piha-based lifeguard and paramedic-turned-performance specialist, shares practical expertise in stress management, resilience, and mindfulness. Having coached elite athletes from Team NZ to UFC stars, Wood combines high-level experience with approachable guidance. Tickets are limited to 100 guests. The experience includes a curated lunch, premium local wines, craft beverages, and special surprises along the way.
