Art 'n' tartan

‘World famous in Waipu’ is now a byline for the Art ’n’ Tartan Wearable Art Contest and Show at the Celtic Barn, Waipu over the weekend of July 21 and 22. A sell-out crowd attended every performance and were wowed with a fantastic display of over 45 entries over seven categories. All the designs featured either a little, or a lot of tartan. The three judges had the unenviable task of choosing a winner from each category, as well as the top designs for a host of special awards.

Amy Tomes was this year’s Supreme Award winner with her mask ‘Highland Coo’. Tracey Davies’ Junction Mag ship sailed off with the top award in the Business House category. Collage Artist, Annie Newall won the new Dreamworld Category with her ‘Jestural Illusions’. Last year’s supreme award winner, Richard Wilson was rewarded for his ‘Tartan Space Oddity’. Leanne Kemp’s, ‘Nature’s Guardian’ and Alarnya Ashby’s ‘Burning Desire’ were also winners.
