Junction Challenge: Oyster Popup Dinner
Junction Mag is about to launch the Junction Challenge series. We want to engage with our readers and support local businesses by challenging them to come up with an exclusive event in tandem with us. We’ll be doing this every few months in all sorts of fabulous places – and we’ll have the Junction team, plus our stylists and photographers there to help the pages of the magazine come to life.
Events could be based around anything – this one is a product launch. We’ve challenged Mahurangi Oysters to create a pop-up dining event with their brand-new Oyster Soup.
We’ll hand you over to Lisa Hay to tell you all about it.
Lisa: “This soup is unique and it’s manufactured by us, the oyster farmers. With the encouragement of Al Brown and Kyle Street from Auckland’s Depot Eatery and Oyster Bar, we set off on the soup journey in 2013.
“There were a few nightmares along the way, and I actually gave up on the process in 2014, but a New Year’s Eve promise to revisit it has seen it finally happen.
“There have been many tastings to achieve a smooth, creamy texture – but without the cream. Our passion and understanding of our product has been at the forefront of bringing an excellent Oyster Soup to the New Zealand market.
“It’s best served steaming hot, with a drizzle of lemon and fennel oil, hot sourdough or even try an oyster po’ boy.
“We’re keen to take on the Junction Challenge and look forward to seeing you at Puhoi House on July 9 for a fantastic event!”
