Eclectic Elegance On The Point

Eclectic Elegance On The Point

A striking new home in Point Wells is a stunning example of visual impact and classic beauty.

Owners, Debbie and Mike, originally intended it as a holiday home, but a job opportunity in the area meant that it became home base.

Designed by architect Adrian Robinson of Adrian Robinson and Associates it’s the epitome of casual elegance. Opulent and beautiful are fitting adjectives, but it’s not so perfect that you can’t completely unwind with a glass of wine by the pool in the summer months or snuggle up in your PJs during winter.

Debbie and Mike’s vision was for a space that would be rich in open spaces. Indoor and outdoor flow was a priority along with perfect craftsmanship and an emphasis on quality. Qualities which are found in the flawless kitchen and bathrooms built by Mark Paterson of Kitchens by Mark Paterson.

Outdoors, white painted brick meets black details and is an excellent example of a modern recreation of the classic New Zealand villa.

Indoors, the styling influences most prominent are those of Australian designer Greg Natale and American design icon, Ralph Lauren. Inspired by these two masters Debbie has created a home that takes feature pieces, both old and new, and combines rich patterns and textures, with a focus on black and white and the natural textures of wood and cane, to create a sumptuous classic feel with a 21st Century twist.

White wooden sarked ceilings are possibly the most beautiful feature of the building, and captivate the eye as the sinuous curves move from the exterior to the interior smoothly. The spacious kitchen and living areas provide everything a foodie and entertainer could wish for with a chefs oven, water outlook and an outdoor fire soon to be surrounded by a growing grapevine.

Debbie’s created a cosy and homely vibe with an eclectic mix of pieces the couple have carefully collected over the years. Examples include a rug hanging on a hallway wall, classic black and white wedding photographs sitting alongside contemporary pacific paintings, and an old iron which makes an intriguing door handle.

Lovingly nurtured from its inception, this is a home that’s been well thought out and as a result is a beautiful, covetable space.
