MATAKANA PUMP TRACK
Matakana’s highly anticipated asphalt pump track at Diamond Jubilee Park is now open for summer fun.
Designed with community at its core, the new pump track marks the end of an 11-year journey led by the Matakana Community Group to secure council approval and bring the project to life.
Entirely community-funded and free to use, it represents local dedication and collaboration, offering a dynamic space where riders of all ages can build confidence, have fun, and stay active.
Construction required careful coordination between the Matakana Pony Club and the Matakana Tennis Club to ensure the project could move forward with minimal disruption to other park users. Specialist developers Empire of Dirt were brought on board to create a track tailored for every skill level, shaping an adaptive, flowing design that’s equally enjoyable for beginners and experienced riders on bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
Under the management of Dobbyn Builders, the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, allowing the community to enjoy the track sooner than expected. Further enhancements are still to come, with community planting planned for July and August 2026 to complete the landscaping and elevate the space as a welcoming spot for spectators and families.
Matakana’s pump track is more than a recreation facility – it’s a milestone for the community and a vibrant new destination for summer adventure.
