Founded by chef Sofía Gallardo, NUSHD reflects Sofía’s lifelong passion for real, nourishing food. Originally from Mexico City, Sofía trained in culinary arts, nutrition, and food sociology. Her career took her around the world as a chef on luxury superyachts, before she and her husband returned to his hometown of Warkworth where they are now raising their two children.
Her global experiences, combined with a deep interest in how food impacts health and wellbeing, especially in children, inspired her to create a business grounded in goodness, flavour, and accessibility. For Sofía, healthy eating isn’t about restriction or complicated recipes. It’s about making good choices and keeping food simple, enjoyable, and full of flavour.
NUSHD offers thoughtfully sourced pantry staples and kitchen essentials from around New Zealand and the globe with a story – products grown by small producers who respect the land, use sustainable practices, and ensure fair wages. The range is minimally processed, often organic, and carefully chosen to nourish and simplify mealtimes. The name NUSHD perfectly captures Sofía’s philosophy of real nourishment and reflects the three pillars she lives and cooks by: simple, healthy, and delicious.
