PIE PROUD FOR FIFTEEN YEARS

From a single oven to a major regional milestone, Real Town Pies is celebrating 15 years of pastry perfection and feeding the Northland community with love.

For owners Celena and Gary, that success comes down to a simple formula: premium NZ beef and chicken, and iconic Kiwi ingredients wrapped in pastry and cooked with aroha. What started as a small local bakery has grown into a genuine cornerstone of the region's food scene, now marking a decade and a half of success with a brand-new second location on State Highway 12 in Paparoa.

The journey has always been anchored by a simple point of difference – everything made by hand and baked fresh daily in store, with a special nod to original owners Corina and Garry Cumming, who have both sadly passed. In an era of mass production, Celena, Gary and their team have stuck to the old-school art of pie-making, a commitment that keeps travellers and locals alike pulling off the highway day after day.

While Steak and Cheese remains a permanent crowd-pleaser, it's Real Town Pies' creative flair that truly sets them apart. The bakery has earned a cult following for its innovative rotations, most notably the burger pie – a fixture on the menu for over 12 years – and the legendary 'Yippie Pie Yay', a weekly rotation of a special flavour not found on the regular menu.

The expansion into Paparoa has proved an instant success, bringing their trademark fresh and flaky goodness to even more Northlanders and travellers alike. It's a true testament to fifteen years of hard work, community connection, and a simple belief that every pie should be a satisfying one.

Look for the iconic green and white stripes on SH12, in Maungaturoto and now Paparoa too, for a classic Kiwi pie.
