FROM STREET EATS TO COSY SEATS

As the chill of winter sets in, local favourite Viet Q is making a few changes to serve its delicious Vietnamese- inspired street food in a warm, cosy atmosphere.

While founder and head chef Phuong Graham’s beloved food truck will be closing for winter, the team isn’t going far. They’re bringing Viet Q to the Tramcar Diner in Matakana, transforming it into a space that’s not just about great food, but also about community and comfort.

Viet Q has earned a loyal following, well- loved for relaxed gatherings around the food truck – enjoying everything from fresh bánh mì to warming pho and imperial rolls in a social setting. That spirit will be kept alive, just in a more comfortable environment, allowing diners to relax and stay a while – or grab their favourite dishes to take away.

In the coming weeks, Tramcar will be transformed and infused with Vietnamese- inspired vibes to match those of Viet Q. Think cosy corners, vibrant flavours, and a welcoming space where locals can meet, eat, and catch up – rain or shine.

Phuong and her team look forward to giving Viet Q the home base it deserves this winter. Serving steaming bowls of pho and delicious pork belly bánh mì alongside refreshing iced coffee – they’ll have it all at Tramcar. Plus, look out for special menu items and sweet treats to make winter dining that little bit more special.

“I believe that food is not just about sustenance, but about bringing people together and sharing a cultural experience,” says Phuong. “We can’t wait to share our love of Vietnamese food with you at our new indoor location.”

Stay up to date with progress as Tramcar evolves into this new chapter – and don’t miss the ever-changing, delicious weekly specials menu.
