From German roots to a Matakana salon, Chrissy Harrison has spent two decades caring about how women feel when they leave her chair – and now she's created a range of products so they can take that feeling home with them.
Chrissy grew up in Germany, where she trained as a hairdresser, before spending years working in salons around the world and eventually settling in Matakana nine years ago. Her salon, Moin Moin Hair – named after northern German slang for hello – sits in the heart of the village, where she keeps a small, quality-focused client list. It was that same loyal group who encouraged her to take the next step.
The result is Mm. Hair, a considered haircare range developed and tested in the salon over two years. Both of Chrissy's children have names starting with M, making it a personal detail that feels fitting for a brand built around care. Every product is made in New Zealand, free of silicones, sulfates, and parabens – vegan, low-tox, and formulated to nourish without the build-up that comes with harsher commercial alternatives.
The range includes a nourishing shampoo and conditioner, hair mask, revitalising leave-in spray, and hair serum for a salon-finish – designed to be used together for best results. The leave-in spray and serum both provide UV and heat protection, keeping colour vibrant for longer and protecting hair from daily styling damage.
"I wanted to bottle the kind of advice I give every day in the salon," Chrissy says — and by all accounts, she has.
