STILLNESS, FOUND
Tucked into a fold of bush and sea, just a short stroll from the serene shores of Matheson Bay, Songbird Retreat Wedding Venue is a gentle invitation to press pause.
Under the thoughtful care of new owners Dean and Helen Pearson, it becomes a winter haven - in a world wired for constant motion, it’s easy to forget how vital stillness is, until we find it again in places like Songbird Retreat.
Set within a private garden valley, the elegant Songbird Cottage welcomes guests with its English charm, timeless style, and the soothing hush that comes when the birds do the talking in the early evening. This isn’t a retreat of rigid schedules: think peaceful beach walks, the crackle of a fire, and steaming cocoa enjoyed in a romantically lit outdoor bath under vast starry skies.
Whether travelling solo, as a couple, or bringing the whole family - including furry friends - there’s space to unwind. Sleeping up to five guests, the cottage features a luxurious super-king bed, a single in the main cottage, and two extra singles in a separate, cosy sleepout. Robes, plush linens, and thoughtful touches make it ideal for winter getaways.
Every stylish detail at Songbird Cottage, just a small part of this special venue, is designed for winter connection and reconnection, wedding preparation and honeymoons. The 4 acres of landscaped garden rooms, meticulously designed for boutique wedding ceremonies and celebrations in warmer months, also invite slow wandering - past blooming roses, native plantings, mature trees, tranquil ponds, and hidden benches where tui, fantails, and kererū provide the only soundtrack.
Songbird is a rare blend of beauty, peace, and possibility - and for a limited time is offering Junction readers 30% off Songbird Cottage stays and $1,000 off wedding bookings (conditions apply).
